Message from the Chair
Welcome to the web pages of the Department of Computer Science at Rutgers University, Camden. The department was founded in 1996 and belongs to the Camden College of Arts and Sciences.
The department currently offers two undergraduate degree programs and a graduate M.S. program in computer science.
Our undergraduate programs follow a comprehensive curriculum based on curricular recommendations by ACM and IEEE, the two premier professional societies for computing professionals. New students entering the department from Fall 2008 onwards will automatically be enrolled in the 2008-2010 curriculum; majors who started earlier should consult the 2005-2008 programs (or earlier depending on their matriculation date) for requirements.
The faculty members in the department are committed to very high standards in teaching excellence. Dr. Rajiv Gandhi won the 2006 Rutgers-Camden Provost's award for teaching excellence. Our department also values student research; many of our undergraduates have won campus-wide awards for research in the past few years. The faculty are very actively involved in research in many exciting areas within computer science. Several members have current or recently-funded research grants and awards; please contact individual faculty members if you are interested with them in working on their respective projects.
