Recent News

October 2009: Through a new NSF-funded program titled Q-STEP, (Quantitative-STEM Talent Expansion Program, with "STEM" referring to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), select first-year students enrolled in biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, and physics at Rutgers-Camden will be provided with special programming throughout their four-year education that includes extra social support, increased chance for group study and problem solving, and assigned academic advisors. A major goal of Q-STEP is to increase by 25% the graduation rates of STEM majors at Rutgers-Camden.

May 2009: Bradford Greening Jr. has been selected to receive the Computer Science Academic Achievement Award for 2009. The award is presented to a senior who has demonstrated outstanding academic performance in Computer Science.

April 2009: Joseph Vessella has been chosen as this year's recipient of the Dean's Undergraduate Research Prize for his original work titled, NP-Completenes of a Video Surveillance Footage Problem. His research was conducted under the direction of Dr. Gandhi.

April 2009: Dr. Gandhi has been promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in the department. We extend our hearty congratulations to him!

September 2008: We have a trifecta of National Science Foundation faculty grants!! Congratulations to Dr. Gandhi, Dr. Kortsarz and Dr. Ramaswami who have each been awarded 3-year grants that will fund their research activities and will support students in various research and education projects. Please contact them personally if you wish to work with any of them.
